Product Notes: Heard the horror stories of a jammed C7 infotainment screen?
For those of us who regularly use the hidden storage bin in the C7, there's always that tiny voice in the back of our heads - "What if the screen jams and won't open again?" All it takes is one misplaced item - maybe your phone, maybe your sunglasses - shifting *just right* to jam the screen. And this concern is justified because it has happened many times already. The Corvette forums have lots of discussions about this very thing. Some owners are actually afraid to use the dash storage bin for this very reason! And that's a shame because the bin is a welcome addition to the Corvette's limited driver storage space. The problem is that the screen was designed with a narrow lip just inside the top edge. If that lip catches on something in the bin while opening, it can jam and stick. And when moving downward, jams are a hard stop with the motor continuing to apply pressure. If that happens the only recourse is to try to dislodge the jam somehoor disassemble the dash to repair or replace the drive belt, the motor, or even the screen. Yikes! Don't let this happen to you!
Made from impact-resistant polycarbonate, the front shield of the C7 Corvette Bin Guard prevents any item from being in the path of the infotainment screen. When the screen is raised, the Bin Guard's front shield pivots into place creating a smooth barrier between the screen and the bin contents. The front shield is curved inward near the top to allow the screen to slide by without any chance of interference. When the screen is lowered, the Bin Guard's spring-loaded front shield opens automatically to allow access to the bin.
Customer Feedback: "I had the shelf unit only and my sunglasses got stuck and the door wouldn’t open. I ruined the sunglasses but cheaper than pulling the dash. I should have installed the Bin Guard sooner. This is a lifesaver." - Norm A.
"I store my sunglasses in their soft pouch and have gotten it and another item hung in the door a couple of times. This has totally eliminated that problem. I had a minor hiccup with the install that Dave quickly helped me through. Great service great product. Thanks again." - Scott T.
