JamesonEdition: First EditionFormat: HardcoverPublisher: Taylor Trade PublishingPublication Year: 2004Print Length: 184 PagesLanguage: EnglishISBN-10: 1589791487ISBN-13: 9781589791480Product Notes: In Billy the Kid: Beyond the Grave, professional treasure hunter and historian W.C. Jameson delivers a provocative investigation into one of the American West's most enduring legends. Jameson challenges the traditional historical narrative that the notorious outlaw was shot and killed by Sheriff Pat Garrett in Fort Sumner, New Mexico, in 1881. Instead, he presents a compelling case that Garrett killed the wrong man, allowing the real Billy the Kid to escape, disappear, and live a long life under the alias William Henry Roberts (popularly known as "Brushy Bill" Roberts).  The book thoroughly examines historical discrepancies, eyewitness accounts, and the Lincoln County War before diving deep into the life of Brushy Bill, who famously stepped forward in 1948 to claim his true identity. Jameson incorporates evidence ranging from physical comparisons to modern forensic analysis to support his theory. Blending the intrigue of historical detective work with the grit of a classic frontier tale, this hardcover edition offers a fascinating alternative history that forces readers to reconsider everything they think they know about the death of an American icon.
